The majority of what our pets learn is through association. We have incredible power to help our pets learn positive associations with people, things, and other animals that we don't want them to be afraid of or associate with pain. Pain and fear cause aggression in our pets.

If I put a chair behind a screen and every time I show my pet the chair, they get bacon, pretty soon, my pet is going to love that chair! I can also make my pet afraid of the chair or dislike the chair. If every time I show my pet the chair, I jerk their collar or make a loud noise, it won't take long for my pet to be afraid of the chair or show nervousness and aggression around the chair.

This is why we STRONGLY recommend that our owner's use effective, but humane anti-pulling equipment on their dogs. When you use a collar that is painful for your dog, you're teaching him on his walks that people, children, and other dogs mean pain.
