"The Cat Who Cried For Help", by Dr. Nicolas Dodman
Although this book places a little more emphasis on medication than I would like, it is especially good at discussing the intelligent use of drugs and behavior therapy together to bring about a solution.
"Know Your Cat: An Owner's Guide to Cat Behavior", by Bruce Fogle, DVM
"The Cat's Mind: Understanding Your Cat's Behavior", by Bruce Fogel, DVM
These two books should go together: Know Your Cat has the best photography of cat behavior, and The Cat's Mind is one of the best at describing and explaining cat behavior. It is less strong as a treatise on altering the undesirable behavior of your cat, but invaluable nonetheless.
"Psycho Kitty?: Understanding Your Cat's "Crazy" Behavior", by Pam Johnson
"Twisted Whiskers: Solving Your Cat's Behavior Problems", by Pam Johnson
"Think Like a Cat: How to Raise A Well-Adjusted Cat, Not a Sourpuss", by Pam Johnson-Bennet
These are delightful books, with excellent writing and terrific insight into cat behavior by someone who has specialized in understanding the mind of a cat. Psycho Kitty? and Twisted Whiskers are delightful reading, and Think Like a Cat is her more thorough and detailed handbook to cat care and behavior modification.
